Brio Data Group is excited to announce that it has been awarded a Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Phase I grant by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to develop a cutting-edge digital service aimed at empowering individuals to excel in today's rapidly evolving world. This innovative project will utilize data-driven analytics to help learners identify opportunity pathways throughout a lifetime of learning and employment, ultimately leading to a more productive and satisfied workforce.
The broader impact and commercial potential of this project lie in its ability to revolutionize the way individuals, educational institutions, employers, and informal education providers identify and match the interests, skills, and educational backgrounds of learners to jobs and educational opportunities. By engaging learners of diverse backgrounds early in their education, the project aims to increase diversity and success in various fields, particularly in STEM disciplines.
The STTR Phase I project focuses on developing methods to integrate a wide range of learner interests and achievements into a common framework, which will then be used to match learners to specific opportunities and general development pathways. The project will also assess the value of opportunities and the chances of success for each student, using machine analysis of written reflections, grades, test scores, and other skills assessments and certifications. Findings will be used to guide learners towards attractive educational and employment opportunities.
In addition to the machine analysis, Brio Data Group will also develop interactive visualization tools to support human exploratory analyses of machine categorizations, ultimately aiming to improve the delivery of educational programs.
